Élisabeth Cibot was born in 1960, into a family of artists that collected Italian Renaissance bronzes. Surrounded by this collection from childhood, it was only natural that she would join the studios of sculptors Étienne Martin, Léopold Kretz and César at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Between 1981 and 1983 she also became assistant to painter Riccardo Licata at the Centro Internazionale di Grafica in Venice and obtained her diploma from the burin engraving department in Paris in 1983. This was also the year that she was guest artist at Harvey Littleton's Glass School in Spruce Pine, USA.

In 1984 she came back to Paris: the city gave her a studio whilst she presented a thesis in Roman Archeology, before doing a DEA (a diploma in specialist studies) in the History of Techniques in 1990. It was in 1993 that she came back to bronze statuary and monumental work.

In 1997 the Fondation Nationale pour les Arts Graphiques et Plastiques found her a studio in Nogent-sur-Marne where she has worked ever since.

Exhibited throughout the world, her work belongs to numerous private and public collections, such as the series of monuments erected in public spaces to celebrate major political and religious figures of the twentieth century (eg the monumental bust of Willy Brandt in Béthune in 1997, the homage to Charles de Gaulle in Drancy in 2007 or to Jean-Paul II in Lyon in 2011).

She has received a number of awards including the Paul Belmondo Prize from the Salon d'Automne in 2004, the gold medal for sculpture from the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 2015 and the Camille Claudel award also from the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 2013. Today she is a permanent member of the Salon d'Automne and the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
